Did you Know this About Travertine?

  1. Travertine pavers are calibrated and rectified so that they fit tightly together. You will not need sand in between our pavers when they are dry set. When Travertine pavers are dry-set, you will find that your speed of installation is about 40% faster than concrete or flagstone pavers. Also, the natural, vertical capillary formation in the stone will not allow anything to “permanently” penetrate the stone, like food or beverage stains, oil, water, etc. The stains will “flush” out after the next rain or when you power wash the travertine. THERE IS NO NEED TO SEAL TRAVERTINE WHEN IT IS DRY-SET!
  2. Travertine Pavers can be either dry-set or wet-set. When these pavers are wet-set, it is best to use thin-set for setting pavers, coping, treads, wall caps or veneer vs a mortar mix. Also, you will want to “back-butter” the paver, coping or veneer, in the opposite direction, to ensure a “tight, locking fit.
  3. When wet-set, travertine should be sealed. We recommend the Dry-Treat product line of cleaners and impregnating sealers whenever you wet-set travertine. The Dry Treat product line can be used on virtually any natural stone – check out their Product Selector Chart! By the way, with Dry Treat, Stain Proof Sealer, you can offer your customers a 15 year Guarantee*!
